Summer Conference 2010

Wednesday 23rd -Friday 25th June 2010

Robinson College, Cambridge

Please find below a draft programme for this summer’s 16-19 conference to be held at Robinson College, Cambridge, on Wednesday 23rd– Friday 25th June. A booking form is now available below and you are requested to return this to the SFCF Secretariat by 14th June. This conference is being organised by the SFCF in association with the AoC.

The first day will be opened by Les Walton, Chair of the YPLA, followed by Cllr Shireen Ritchie, Chair of the Young People’s Board of the LGA. The day, entitled ‘The New Landscape’ will focus on the YPLA, local authorities and regional networks and, in this respect, regional discussion groups will take place in the afternoon session followed by a plenary session. The SFCF Secretariat will be inviting local authority representatives to attend for this day and all Sixth Form Colleges are asked to discuss the possibility of attending with their local authorities. We have also introduced a day delegate rate of £200+VAT for local authority representatives to encourage them to attend this important day.

The second day will focus on Teaching and Learning and will be opened by Professor Dylan Wiliam from the Institute of Education. Professor Ann Hodgson and Professor Ken Spours, who are working with the SFCF Curriculum Committee on the SFBac, will lead a main conference session on the SFBac. Two sessions of workshops will be taking place on this day.

On the third day, devoted to Quality and Funding, the launch of the Performance Management Framework, which the SFCF has been working on with React and other key stakeholders, will take place in the morning followed by a session led by David Igoe and Julian Gravatt, AoC, on funding issues. Workshops will take place in the morning on Funding and Quality issues.

With a variety of keynote speakers, discussion groups and workshops available together with our usual gala dinner and drinks receptions, we do hope that you will be able to attend with one or more of your senior staff members for all three days but otherwise for at least a day or two.
